Head of Sales / Sales Manager

A Head of Sales is a senior role, and as such has important duties and responsibilities to fulfil, with both short & long term goals to achieve.

The primary role is to engage in new business and find new clients by networking, cold calling, advertising or other means of generating interest from potential clients.

A Head of Sales must develop a rapport with new clients, and set targets for sales and provide support that will continually improve and maintain the relationship.

Key Responsibilities & Objectives

1. New Business Development

  • Identify potential clients and engage the decision markers within the client’s organization
  • Cold call, email and meet with new clients
  • Having an in-depth knowledge of business products and value proposition
  • Make strategy and action plan to grow market share
  • Develop proposals that speak to the client’s needs, concerns and objectives
  • Handle objections by clarifying, emphasizing agreements, and working through differences to achieve a positive outcome (using various persuasion or negotiation styles appropriately)
  • Present an image that mirrors that of the client.

2. Client Management & Retention

  • You will be expected to service the needs of existing customers ensuring all aspects of their needs is being met and develop any opportunities arising
  • Research and build relationships with new clients
  • Increase client database
  • Managing and retaining relationships with existing clients
  • Follow up feedback from clients to continuously improve our service
  • Arrange and participate in internal and external client debriefs
  • You will be expected to service the needs of existing customers ensuring all aspects of their needs is being met and develop any opportunities arising.

3. Leadership

  • Manage a team of other Sales Executives ensuring that they manage all opportunities effectively and strategically guiding them in line with company requirements and sales targets
  • Analyze and prepare operational reports for your department for submission to Managing Director
  • Constantly seeking new opportunities and developing your team to respond to the demands of their environment and business competitors
  • Keep training and coaching your team in many creative ways to give them more support to hit their target and your department’s as well.
